Introduction: Good afternoon everyone and Welcome back to this week’s episode of Dr. Pill. I’ll be your host Dr. Stephanie Sgueglia and On today’s episode of Dr. pill, we are lucky enough to have two willing guests, from my alma mater, the University of New England, to come in and speak on behalf of UNE’s Pre-pharmacy program… without further or do let’s all give a warm welcome to Abby and Casey from the University of New England.

***add applause while they walk in***

Stephanie: Welcome to Dr.pill ladies, we are so happy to have you as our guest today!

Abby: Thank you for having us. We are so happy to be here

Stephanie:I’m so happy we have two students from UNE willing to answer some questions for our viewers even though we all know how busy you pharmacy students are! Before the show we asked our viewers to enter questions through our website for you two to answer about pharmacy and the pre-pharmacy major. For starters, Why did you choose UNE?

…  will continue on as an interview conversation… Do not want it to be too scripted because then it will make us sound like robots… have questions and answers ready but fill in empty spaces with stuff to make it seem like we aren’t robots

Questions in order of being asked:

  • (1)Why did you choose UNE? – Abby
  • (2)How do you feel about the workload?-Casey
  • (3)What is one piece of advice you would give incoming pharmacy students? Abby
  • (4)Why did you choose Pharmacy?-Casey
  • (5)Is there a specific path you want to take Pharmacy? – Abby
  • (6)What do you see yourself doing in the future?-Casey

Answers:

  • My choice of majoring in Pharmacy was due to the constant arguments about my grandmothers medication, without consulting with the pharmacist
  • Got introduced to the campus from my oldest sister who went to med school here, small campus (community based), homebody, great program
  • I would like to work in a hospital pharmacy, more action than community pharmacy, less consistency
  • Personally, I think the workload is pretty heavy, but with good time management it shouldn’t be too bad
  • Study A LOT, stay on top of school work/homework, make connections inside and outside the classroom, your going to be with these people for the next six years hopefully
  • In the future, I hope to have graduated pharmacy school successfully and find a pharmacy to work in…

Stephanie: Now that I have finished badgering you two with questions, lets play a game! So when you are first starting out as a pharmacist or pharmacy tech a bi part of your job is counting out prescriptions so that is exactly what you are going to do. I’m going  to give you both 30 secs to count out 25 pills and the winner will receive a research grant to use at the university of new england. Are you both ready?

Great job casey you correctly counted out 25 pills the fastest!!!! So you get the great prize of a research grant to UNE, but don’t worry Abby you get one too!

Conclusion:

-ease into the conclusion from our conversation then…

Thank you ladies for being here and giving everyone some valuable insight into being a pre-pharmacy student at the university of new england. Next week on Dr.pill we will be discussing the positive impact that marjuanna has on mental health treatments and we will also be having a special guest to discuss that with. So tune next week on Dr.pill!

***insert clapping and cheers***

Reflection (Journal #19):
Overall, I think that my group and I did very well with our presentation for speech four. I found speech four to have different aspect to it were easier and harder than our other speeches. For speech four I thought it was easier to present, except for being embarrassed, because I wasn’t standing in front of the room being put on the spot. In regards to difficulties I think that the editing of this video was harder than I thought it was going to be, and took a little bit more time than I thought it was going to be. After watching our presentation, I think that it came out pretty good and overall had all the aspects it needed to. It looked like one fluid video and we added music and effects and looked like it one whole production that I personally was very proud of. Everyone in our group was very helpful and made it much easier to get this presentation done on time. We all contributed equally and had our own jobs to do to get everything done. I personally helped write my portions of the speech and helped to edit the video. We all also had a fun adventure to the campus store to get the lab coat which turned into quite a process, but we still got it. I liked this presentation a lot and am very proud of how my group and I did and how it all came together looking so nice.
